Seulam from our medical team in ETHIOPIA! We are happy to let you know that we arrived safe and sound to Addis Abbaba.

After 19 hours of flying, from San Francisco to London to Cairo, we were excited and relieved to finally step foot in the Addis Abbaba International Airport.

Our hosts, Rachel and Michael Weller (Presbyterian Church, USA), were gracious enough to pick us up at 3am and take us to our accommodations at Bethel Synod guest house. For most of the team, it is our first time in Africa and we were eager to take in as much as we could during our ride to the Synod through some rural parts of Addis. We were pleasantly surprised by our accommodations, which included hot showers, beds, and a western toilet! :)

Our medical team of 11 is made up of doctors, nurses, and others interested in serving in the medical field. During our two week stay in Addis, part of the team will be working with Ethiopian doctors and nurses to provide training to healthcare workers from rural villages, which is where 80% of the population lives. The other part of the team will be working with Andy Warren of Service in Missions (SIM) to provide mobile medical clinics and visit AIDS/HIV beneficiaries in their homes. Besides serving the medical needs of the Ethiopian community, we are grateful for the opportunity to share the love of Jesus to the people that we meet.

Thank you to all back home for being a part of our extended team and for praying and supporting us on this endeavor. We will keep you posted as we continue on our adventure in Ethiopia- with your prayers, we are ready to begin "riding this tiger"!

Egziabeher Ybarkachu (God Bless You in Amharic)!
