Sunday- Sabbath- Worship & Rest

Today was a blessing as we got to sleep in for the first time. After a wonderful french toast breakfast, we went to the International Evangelical Church (IEC) where we worshipped through music (Bach), teaching (John 3:16-17) and fellowship with English-speaking brothers and sisters from Ethiopia and around the world. Pastor Bill, an ex-Inter varsity staffer, reminded us about how God sent His son, not to condemn us, but to show His love for us, by the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

After a pizza lunch, we boarded a tour bus to see the Ethiopia outside of Addis. We were delighted to find that the same tour guide, that we loved as he guided us through the National museum days earlier, jumped out of the bus with a big smile to welcome us as our tour guide today.
With the hundreds of guides that could have been hired, we believe that this was a "God thing" that we had this wonderful man again as a guide.

As we traveled through the beautiful countryside, we were charmed by the beautiful fields, hills and sky. God's beauty is so evident in this country.

En route to Debrezayete (a town 50km outside of Addis), we stopped to see teff (Ethiopian grain) in 107 kilos (220 pound) bags, which they use to make Injera, their favorite bread.

We ended this beautiful outing with our arrival at Lake Hura. This crater lake is surrounded by beautiful hills. The vegetation includes Eucalyptus, sub-saharan iron trees and a multitude of cactus. After a team picture at the lake, we traveled home with a much deeper appreciation of Ethiopia and Africa.

We think and pray for our family and friends daily. As our extended teammates, we so need and appreciate your prayer. May Christ be seen in our service to Him and to His people in Ethiopia.
