Day 2

PictureWe met at the International Terminal of SFO at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday morning, bright-eyed, full of anticipation and adrenalin, excited about the adventure that lay before us.  Six members of our team were visiting Ethiopia for the first time, while seven of the remaining ten are visiting for the third time.  For them, the description is closing in on “Abashan” rather than “Forengi”  (native, rather than foreigner).  ;-)

Twenty-one hours later, a rag-tag, travel-weary team was happily greeted by Pastor Mattheos high-pitched voice exclaiming, “Praise God, you have arrived safely in Ethiopia!”  We were filled with joy to see our good friends Pastor Mattheos, Zenebe, and Werku and to introduce them to new friends and bring greetings to them from other friends (like Kinsey and Diane Dittmar, Joanne Greenwald, and others).  Healthy, with all our bags, but weary and a little travel-worn, the same sixteen of us settled into our rooms for a short night’s rest.

PictureOn the bus ride down Bole Road to the Ghion Hotel, we lifted up a prayer of praise for our smooth delivery to Ethiopia, and we asked for protection and a blessing on our friends in Ethiopia.

God is very good!
