Please Pray;

Dear Friends & Family,

I’m heading to Ethiopia! For about 3 years now I have been thinking, dreaming, & praying for a chance to go to Africa. Before it became the “popular” thing that celebrities do, I really wanted to see what it was like for people to live, work, & worship God in a poverty-stricken country such as Ethiopia.

I am so excited for this trip! Working at Menlo Park Presbyterian Church, I have seen over 200 of our members travel to Ethiopia in the last 2 1/2 years. This is because my church has been partnering with Ethiopia for about that time, working with numerous indigenous ministries throughout the country.

One of the organizations we partner with is HOPE Enterprises. Through HOPE, many children that would not be able to afford schooling are getting educated in the classroom and are learning about Jesus at the same time. I will get the privilege to work with HOPE while in Addis Abba, the capital of Ethiopia, alongside my friend, Callie, who will be joining me on this adventure.

Since MPPC partners with a variety of ministries in Ethiopia, I will have the chance to serve along side of men, women, and children in a wide range of activities. I may help with a feeding program HOPE offers, while the next day I may assist with English education at one of the 6 schools HOPE runs. I also plan to visit the ‘Sister’s of Charity’ hospital for the Destitute and Dying, and work along women who run a ministry for former sex workers. The possibilities are endless and I am going over there with a flexible mind & heart, just wanting to be used by God however will best serve His Kingdom and the people living in it.

PRAYER REQUESTS

  • Safe travels.  I will be meeting my friend, Callie, in Ethiopia!

  • Health. My trip is only 11 days so to be sick for even 1 would take away from how God could use me in such a short time.

  • Flexibility. For my ‘go-go-go’ attitude not to get in the way of where God wants to use me.

  • Relationships. For Callie and I & the new Ethiopian’s we will be meeting.
