“We too are called to withdraw at certain intervals into deeper silence and aloneness with God, together as a community as well as personally.” Mother Teresa, No Greater Love.

What a gracious gift to spend time with this team, seeking deeper silence and aloneness with God, together, as a community, as well as personally.

Yes, we had an incredible time today, as part of our team worked with teachers and part of our team worked with students. But in some respects our most rewarding times have been those times we’ve had as a team, alone with God, learning more about each other. This has included impromptu conversations, as well as our devotional time.

Today, several of us, experiencing fatigue from the altitude and constant work required to communicate with the kids, sought refuge and some aloneness with God, together.  As we sat and talked, we shared pieces of our individual stories, we laughed, we cried and we grew together, with God at the center. There was no question in our minds that somehow, through God’s power, the guest house in Dessie became a holy place.

Our team is incredibly gifted and it is so cool to see those gifts flourish, in communion (or co-union) with others on the team, thanks to God’s grace. Even though a few team members have experienced a little throat cold, everyone is relatively well, in great spirits and excited at the story God is unfolding through this trip.
