Prayer Letter

“Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine,
 according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever! Amen.”  – Ephesians 3:20

  • As we prepare…
    Pray that our hearts would be wide open to God’s teaching, healing, and direction.  Pray that He would guard our hearts and our minds in Christ Jesus, and teach us how to give and receive grace to each other and those around and us.  Pray that God’s purposes for this trip will be met, and that we will obedient to what He calls us to do to prepare and to go. 

  • June 8 and 9                                                                                            
    As we travel, pray for our safety and for our families and loved ones that we leave behind.  Pray that God would safeguard and prepare those we are going to meet and work with through HOPE Enterprises. 

  • June 10
     We’ll be attending church in Addis Ababa and traveling to Roggie village.  Pray that our hearts would be ready to serve, grow, and learn.  Pray that we’d be gentle with each other as we adjust through jet lag and culture shock.  Pray that we’d be able to laugh together and that we’d be flexible with our planning. 
  • June 11 - 15
    We will be in Roggie Village – teaching Bible lessons, collaborating with teachers, and providing professional development on teaching ESL.  We will also be giving eye exams and building a kitchen/cooking area for the school.  Pray that we go with a spirit of humility, openness, and understanding.  Pray that God would provide opportunities for us to share our stories with others, and that we’d get to hear theirs.  Pray that we have opportunities to trust God deeply, and that we turn to him fully.  Pray for those who will hear about Jesus for the first time, and for those who will trust God in new ways because of what they see in us.      

  • June 16 – 18
    We’ll be traveling around to work with Project Mercy and other organizations in Addis Ababa.  Pray that we would have eyes that are open to see what God has for us during this time.  Pray that we would be responsible stewards of what we have been given: our time, our resources, our lives.  Pray that He would guide and direct us.  Pray that God’s love would be evident in our lives to those we come across, and that He would draw them near.    

  •  June 19 – 20
    As we head home, pray for safety and a smooth transition back to the reality of our everyday lives. Pray that God will give us time to debrief in meaningful ways as a group.  Pray that we would be able to share deeply and honestly with someone back home about what we experienced.  Pray that our team members, and the people we met and shared with, would be changed in lasting ways.  Pray that God would help us to preserve our memories and share them with people in the US to make a difference for those in Ethiopia.
