We arrived safely on Sunday night and were excited to see old friends at the Bethany Shelter in Baker (outside Baton Rouge). They took us in at the last minute and were so welcoming and kind.
Monday the doctors got their Louisiana credentials without difficulty, while the rest of the team went to 3 large storage spaces near by to collect donated medications. We were amazed at what we found there that we could take down to the New Orleans area.
We headed down to Kenner, LA, to meet our contacts at the East Jefferson Clinic. They currently have 2 doctors working there, and are seeing an increasing number of patients as people move back into the area.
In the late afternoon we moved into our two 3-bedroom apartment situatuated half way between Kenner and New Orleans. We had a home cooked meal courtesy of Sally, Susan and Terry (they cooked while we unloaded our 3 minivans). We had worship time, singing hymns and discussing the day before tackling the sorting of all our medications.
Tomorrow will hopefully be our first day of seeing patients. We're not
really sure where, but God is faithful and will send us where we need
