For me, this is the first mission trip I’ve taken. I can't imagine coming to care for these returnees without the wonderful team from Menlo Presbyterian to support me. The sadness of returnees’ stories is unbearable without the hope that Jesus offers, His promise that joy comes in the morning and that He walks with us in the valley of the shadow of death. Without the team I’d never come. There's too much darkness as you enter the parish, and the only ray of light and hope is right here in this Wal-Mart parking lot, where these volunteers offer God's love and compassion, a shoulder to cry on.
