Message 1 Day 1- Oct 8
The first half of the team arrived in Lafayette without incident, and met up with Sue Glithero from Team 1 at the airport. We spent an hour and a half driving to our destination in Baton Rouge, the Center of Hope for women, a faith-based community center which offers counseling for women, individuals and families. In the aftermath of Katrina, it had served as a shelter for evacuees, but now had graciously offered lodging and meals for many PRC relief workers.

And what meals they were! We had our first real southern dinner here: crawfish etouffé, and it was delicious! Of note, we met Pastor Glen whose church in St. Bernard parish was completely destroyed by Katrina and Rita. Tomorrow would be a special day as they were going to hold their first worship service since Katrina. Praise God for His faithfulness and provision!
