| Day 10
Everything is going really well. Two days in rural villages complete with dirt roads, fording streams, lots of poverty, tiny dirt floor homes and the wealth of spirit that we've come to expect. The dotors have seen between 550 and 600 patients in the three days. The team is great with folks remaining behind to hang new doors on the rooms at the orphanage, paint and replace ceiling tile in the kitchen. The children are wonderful as always. However, Harold is gone and is living with his brother they think. I have been so sad about that but it was his choice. Having an orphanage full of teenagers is a real challenge. We will leave here tomorrow morning and go to LosCedros with a stop on the way at the Wemby market. Tomorrow night will be our dinner out. Sat. night is reserved for "debrief." The team voted to go to the beach instead of the volcano on Sat. The Construction Crew at the Jinotega Orphanage, painted, varnished and hung eight handmade doors, installed shower heaters, and hung new ceiling tiles. Medical Clinic at remote village: We were able to treat about 600 people in three days of clinics in rural areas outside Jinotega. Five suitcases of shoes and clothing were distributed, as well as 200 pairs of eyeglasses. |
