Day 7

Our medical mission work is finished, and today our team rested and relaxed before we catch our flight tomorrow morning. Our team had time today to visit the Panama Canal and to walk around the old central district of panama city, with cobblestone streets which are wide enough for only one car.

The spirit of our team is high and we are all healthy. What a blessing! This mission trip has been a spectacular experience in many ways. One week ago many of our team members did not know each other very well. Today we feel like members of the same family.

Here is a short summary of our medical mission trip.
We spent four and one-half days treating the medical needs of a rural community located about 30 miles outside Panama City. We worked together with a local community-based church. One objective of our trip was to introduce the local church to the members of the community who visited the medical clinic. While our team operated the medical clinic each day, the local church met with each patient to evangelize the message of Christ. This evangelism was done as the patients waited for their prescriptions to be filled.

On the last evening of the clinic`s operation, the entire community was invited to a "special presentation" on Thursday evening. This presentation included a message from the local pastor, a Spanish language film with a Christian message, and an invitation to accept Christ.

Every member of our team knows that in a few weeks the medicines that we handed out will be gone. However, we believe that the message the patients received from the evangelism will last forever.
